Chris Clark of North Potomac, Maryland bought Pizza.com in 1994 with the hope that the domain name would get his firm a consulting contract with a pizza company.
He closed down his firm in 2000 but continued to renew the domain name hoping that one day it would have a practical use for him.
After hearing about the $3 million sale of Vodka.com Chris decided to try his luck and see what kind of offers he would get for his domain, Pizza.com.
He paid the $20 renewal fee every year until today. Today, he sold the name for $2,600,000. That is a 130,000% profit on the name.
He says he regrets not buying more domain names back in 1994.
